What Is P90
P90 is the absolute best starter workout for someone that wants both cardio and strength training, and like some of the other workouts that Beachbody provides, even if you are in great shape you’ll find you can get a lot of benefit from P90.
P90 has the best modifiers, as in they aren’t super fit looking bikini models, but regular people doing the workouts. With this, it’s really easy to start and see where you fit, and each time you do a workout you can try to push a little harder to get more benefit. I came into this thinking that since there wasn’t an ‘X’ it would be really easy, and it’s not. Tony Horton is a master at creating great workouts, and P90 is one of the best in my opinion.
P90 is a 90 day transformation workout that you can easily do in the comfort of your home, or take with you to a hotel room, or really anywhere. It’s not an extreme workout, it isn’t Insanity, It’s Tony Horton leading you through an amazing 30 minute workout every day for 6 days a week, for 3 months.
The first month starts with the A series. To give an example one of the moves might be a half pushup, and when Tony asks us at home why we are doing only half pushups, he replies “Because this is the A month, we will do full pushups in C”. And what I liked about this was that there wasn’t pressure to go hard right away, and even with the half pushup, I had a great workout. He’s really trying to even the playing field to get everyone able to continue from A to B to C, to finish strong, and to transform.
Who Is P90 For
P90 is for everyone. Your mom, your lazy husband, your fit wife. Anyone can do these workouts. They are only 30 minutes, they don’t require any additional equipment aside from some resistance bands, and there’s a modifier so if it’s getting too hard, you can take it down a notch.
Everyone will benefit from this workout, and when it’s all over, you can easily pick it back up, or just start B again etc. I didn’t find my joints needing rest like I did with Insanity, and every morning I looked forward to the workout since they weren’t intimidating.
That being said I did get an incredible workout from this series, and I recommend it to everyone I talk to.

What Does the P90 Schedule Look Like?
The P90 schedule is split into three parts, called A, B and C, with the first month as more of an intro into Tony Horton and P90. The entire workout lasts 90 days.
I found this to be a great way to gravitate toward his more extreme offerings like P90X and P90X3. P90 is not intense, but think of these 90 days and moving you toward your fitness goals. Some may want to repeat P90, some might want to move on, but starting out, it’s not intense, its not crazy.
What Is the P90 Meal Plan?
P90 makes nutrition very easy with their so called “Simple Kitchen Nutrition Guide”. This guide is going to really help you make the gains you are looking for with this program. What makes it so simple you might ask, well for starters the guide will let you select options for every meal, and then it includes the exact recipe, which is great for the former take out kings like myself. What this means is that by reading the guide you will have your grocery list, and from there, you will be headed in the right direction
I personally love that there are recipes in the guide, for I’ve had issues in the past finding a good recipe to match what a nutrition guide recommends. I found myself spending a lot of time trying to find a good recipe that I often would either give up, or just pick one that might not have been the healthiest. With Simple Kitchen I don’t have to worry about that, it’s simply pick the recipes, write them down, hit the store, and I’m good for the week. For me having good food around is what I need. If I let in some junk food, I will devour it when I get home. Instead I find myself looking for some Shakeology, or some veggie snacks to calm my appetite when I get home before making dinner.
Like any nutrition guide you will need to find your weak points and substitute with healthy foods. For me it’s right after work when I could eat a house, so I make sure I eat nutrient dense foods to satisfy my cravings. My other weak point is eating too little during these workouts. My mind tells me I should eat less, but then my workouts suffer, I lack energy, and I have zero gains. Make sure you eat enough! If you follow this guide you will have the right foods, in the right quantity, and really, thats well more than half the batter.
